History


City of Carson's First original Filipino Restaurant, Manila Sunrise is known for its famous specialties that have become household favorite and a must for family parties and gatherings.

Mouth watering dishes include Pancit Malabon, Bibingka Galapong, Puto Bumbong, Crispy Pata, Goto, Arroz Caldo, and Lechon Manok

These are the core menu of our establishment and only prepared with the finest ingredients, in Lutong Bahay style. 

HISTORICAL BRIEF

  • 1976 - Opened R.P. Trading, an Oriental store at 23413 Main   Street, Carson CA 90745.
  • 1979 - Operations moved to 21822 Main Street. Acquired the property November 1979 for $90,000
  • 1981 - Opened a second branch at #1457 E. Plaza Blvd, National City
  • 1982 - Purchased the adjacent property (21828) for $68,000 currently the present site of Manila Sunrise Restaurant
  • 1982 - Opened the third branch at 1559 E. Amar Road, West Covina, CA 91782
  • 1983 - Introduced Gold Label (Old Fashion Magnolia) Ice Cream, under the supervision of the former VP and Chemist of Magnolia Philippines. Process and production were handled under the contract manufacturing by Safeway Corporation. It was sold in the states of California, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, Illinois and Florida. The Ice Cream business was temporarily put on hold to focus on the restaurant operation which was rapidly growing
  • 1984 - Concentrated on restaurant business and opened main branch at 21828 Main St. Carson, CA 90745. Most notably, Filipino-style "turo-turo" (choose and point at) restaurants have proliferated, expectedly in the Filipino dominant areas of both Southern and Northern California. Number ranges from 300 to 500 throughout California. Out of these, only 20 can be considered established or institutionalized, considering the number of years of continued presence, regularity of customers, as well as reputation as respected "truly" Filipino restaurants

    Manila Sunrise Restaurant, ranks high among the top category, show by its years of viable and respectable operation. It has sustained increasing hardcore and loyal customers, frequently attracting outside interests for "franchise" possibilities  
  • 2005 - Opened a second branch at 4122 Dyer Street, Union City, CA 94587
  • 2007 - Opened the third branch at 2110 Springstowne Center, Vallejo, CA 94591

At this stage of its market strength and the high respect for the company's name and fame, the principals of the Roxas Corporation decided to maximize its potentinals, and spin-off towards national market presence and reach, to cover major cities in the U.S. and Canada, initially, and the worl centers in the long run -- via consumer-packed food production and marketing of selected food items, that will carry the Manila Sunrise brand. 

The initial product considered is its best know, all-time favorite restaurant food item, the Pancit Malabon.  It is basically a revered original Filipino noodle dish made famous over the decades, and originated from the Philippine town of Malabon, in Metro Manila. The Pancit Malabon of Manila Sunrise is uniquely deletable.

Noodles -- which is a must item of birthday parties for it's consumption is based in the common belief that it prolongs the life of the celebrant. 

The following consumer-packed food items which will be produced are: Kare-Kare, Menudo, Afritada, Adobo, Caldereta, Escabeche, Tocino, Lumpiang Shanghai, Barbecue, Breading Mix, Sinigang, and annatto seeds powder for food coloring.

Vision

The proliferation through accessibility of delectable consumer-packed food products which will cater to the taste buds of Filipinos all over the world and providing them as well of the convenience of preparing these delightful food items instantly and conveniently.

Another vision of Manila Sunrise is to offer Franchising opportunities to the prospective clients who envision a business that they will proudly call their own. The Chef being the number ONE problem of the restaurants, the company thru meticulous researches has developed the food products in which the prime quality is consistent and will suit the palate of the customers. In addition, there are core products comprising the bread winners of the business, and highly tested desserts originating from all regions of the Philippines. 

Mission

Aside from the continuous research for the enhancement of the quality of the food products thru technological researches and procedures, the company is considering the development of agricultural products of the Philippines to augment the export income of the country.

In thirty six years of residency in Carson, CA, the owners of the company being a Lawyer and Physician have been blessed with the business ideas which they themselves have no inkling before and fortified with their philosophy in life, which is "Everything is God's Will." 

The ultimate objective of the couple is principally based in the passage of the Bible "Luke 14:12-14" to wit: 

The blessing that have been bestowed upon them will be shared to the least of our brethren particularly to the Homeless Senior Citizens of Emmaus HOuse of Apostolate located at the back of the Barasoain Church at the City of Malolos, Bulacan, Philippines. The fruition of their objectives will benefit homeless street children as well and other worthwhile projects anonymously.
